Singapore Sports Council - Elite Player Testing and Seminar for Sports Science/Medicine Staff
After arriving on the Wednesday evening and meeting with our Singapore Convenor, "Mr Reliable" Beng Siong Er - Rob and Michael spent the Thursday afternoon testing three players from the elite golf programme at the Singapore Sports Council. It was a pleasure, working with Todd Vladich (Assistant Director - Performance Management Department) and Kim Baldwin, the Head Coach of the SSC Elilte Squad and all the staff from Sports Medicine, Sports Science and Strength and Conditioning.
After completing biomechanical and physiotherapy testing on three players, under the watchful and interested eyes of the SSC staff, a two hour seminar was run to explore the integration of the sports science and sports medicine. Participants were provided with two case studies that included video and 3D data. The task was then to work in small groups to prioritise what were the assessment priorities on the range, in the clinic and the gym. Having isolated the main assessment issues, the participants were then ask to recommend possible intervention strategies.
Feedback from Kim, the players and the staff was very positive and the TGA staff look forward to returning to continue the work that has been commenced during this trip.
