Dec 14, 2008 - Copenhagen Level I and II TGA Seminars - Furosoe Golf Club
The completion of Danish Golf Union testing in late October, focussed the TGA Team on the running of the Level I and II seminars. The participants from last year's Level I seminar at Furosoe were keen to progress to the case study and advanced integration that is the hallmark of the Level II seminar. Two very enthusiastic groups participated in the seminars - some undertaking the arduous task of both seminars over the four days.
There is general agreement that the two seminars need to be separated by a little time to assist in consolidating the knowledge gained in the Level I, before undertaking the Level II.
Jakob Nees, ably supported by Martin Lauridsen, again convened the seminars for TGA locally. Anders Christiansen (Danish Men's Coach), Henriette Thoegersen (head Professional at the Copenhagen Golf Centre), Martin Lloyd-Davies (a Welsh PGA professional) and Ralph Pedersen (brother of Danish Men's Coach, Jan Frei) lead the case study groups who were provided with 3D data and video information on four specific golfers. Their task then was to isolate the key technical issues and seek confirmation in the 3D kinematic data. Priorities were then to be made for on-range assessments and interventions as well as possible biofeedback drills. More in depth clinical assessment and intervention priorities were to be outlined and finally the key direction for long term athletic development. All the participant group presented one case study each and by the final presentation, on Day Two, the familiarity and understanding had improved markedly - to view the feedback from these sessions see the testimonials section on the home page.
The Team would like to sincerely thank Jakob Nees and Martin Lauridsen for their on-going support and effort in organising and coordinating the TGA seminars in Denmark. Tommy Schill and Jurgen Kastensson from Sweden, representing the Swedish physiotherapy support to Sweden's golfers are keen to have Rob and Michael run a Level I seminar in Stockholm or Gothenberg late in 2009 - watch the schedules page or in future newsletters for more details and confirmation of this event.
Thanks also go to Anders Christiansen and the other coaches for their continuing support and passionate desire to see Danish Golf at the forefront of long term player development for all levels of golfers - thanks Martin, Ralph and Henriette for the valuable perspective they gave to the allied health participants.
Finally the participants provided a fantastic input and interaction throughout the four days. The Team would like to sincerely thank all those who gave up their time and sincerely hope that the knowledge gained can be put to good use.
